PARENT’S DAY AWAY – DECEMBER 16TH
12:00 To 9:00 P. M.

All parents are invited to leave the “kids” children at the church for a day of fun. You can go shopping, go out together or even just take a break. Bring a sack lunch. Dinner will be furnished. There will be games, a movie and fellowship. Parents will need to send a snack for the evening.  Bring food for your family and an extra person and have a great celebration and time of fellowship.

Prayer, Pie, and Praise

Sunday evening Dec. 31 we will end 2006 with Prayer, Pie, and Praise. Service will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.

Jesus, The Sent One
John 3:17; 1 John 4:14

  1. The sustenance of the Sent One. To do the will of God [Jn. 4:34]. This should be our goal in life.
  2. The business of the Sent One. To work the works of God [Jn. 9:4]. This should be the main work that we do.
  3. The teaching of the Sent One. To teach the Word of God [Jn. 8:26]. This is what we should teach.
  4. The power of the Sent One. Power comes from the Father [Jn. 7:29]. The same power [the Holy Spirit] sends us today.
  5. The motive of the Sent One. To bring glory to God [Jn. 7:18]. This should be our motive everyday in life.
  6. The companionship of the Sent One. Jesus was not sent alone [Jn. 8:16, 29]. We are not alone in the walk for the Lord.
  7. The destination of the Sent One [Jn. 16:5]. We are sent ones [John 17, 18; 2 Cor. 5:20]. Jesus said, “When I sent you…lacked ye anything?” and they answered, “Nothing.” [Luke 22:35]. When He sends us He will supply everything that we need.

***Helped Needed***

We are in need of help in several areas of the ministry:

  • Teachers and children’s ministry workers. We will train you. God will bless you.
  • New people who will clean the church once a month. If enough people sign up it could be once every 6 weeks.
  • Help the pastor get his new office set up. That could be done at your convenience. There are several things that need to be done.
  • If you have some spare time that you would like to donate to the ministry, we could use some help in other areas.

Fellowship Dinner

Our Fellowship dinner last night was very well attended. You would not believe the amount of food brought. Thanks to everyone who made the night a success.
Nineteen of those in attendance received special awards of appreciation for the work they do around the ministry.

From Pastor Dave:

  • Read Ephesians 1 for the new Wednesday night study, “Journey To A Better Life. This will start on December 13th. It is a study of the book of Ephesians.
  • We will be putting together Christmas sacks for the inmates at the Morgan County Jail. WE WILL NOT BE GIVING HOMEMADE COOKIES THIS YEAR. All candy and cookies will be store bought and individually wrapped. If you want to help talk to Carol Voshell.
  • Agree with me in prayer for the needs of the church. We give 10% of all offerings to missions. You who have been faithful with your help, Thank You!!!
  • Pray for my sister Sandi and my sister Waunetta. They are both sick. Sandi goes to dialysis 3 times a week. The Doctors will not do a kidney transplant because her heart cannot take it. Waunetta has cancer and needs our prayers.
  • Pray for Brother Dan Sand. He has some tests to take.
  • We Praise God Because Sister Tessie is doing so very well. She says she hasn’t been able to eat so good in years. Pray that God will supply all of their needs.
  • Pray for the Services. I pray that people will be faithful to the church and attend services.
  • Thank you for all your prayers.

Special Prayer

Remember Randy and Betty Myers in prayer. Their daughter-in-law unexpectedly passed away on Friday. The funeral will be Tuesday morning at 10:30 A.M. The location of the service is at Christ United Methodist in Sterling.

Daily Bible Reading Booklets

We will start giving out the new Daily reading booklets today. If you want to follow the reading program ask Sister Carol for one of the booklets. There are many yearly reading programs. All are very good. One thing I like best about the one we use is we are all reading together. Many times I will be talking to a church member and we will discuss what our reading for the day was.
