LOG LANE COMMUNITY CHURCH WEEKLY BULLETIN
Sunday, December 24, 2006

Seven hundred years before the birth of Jesus, the prophet Micah wrote that the Messiah [the Hebrew equivalent of the word “Christ”] would be born in Bethlehem [Micah 5:2]. When the Magi and Herod wanted to know where the new king would be born, the Jewish leaders, who knew this passage well, told them.

Detailed predictions such as this show that the Bible is unlike any other religious book in the world. Jesus is the only founder of a major world religion whose birthplace was prophesied hundreds of years in advance of his birth.

Such unique evidence spurs “wise” men and women to seek Him.

Why Jesus Came To the World

1 Timothy 1:15 (KJV)
15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

1 Timothy 1:15 (RVR)

Christ came to save sinners.

1 Timothy 4:10 (KJV)
10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

1 Timothy 4:10 (RVR)

God has provided salvation for All Men & Women, in a sense giving salvation to all if they want it. However, Christ becomes the Savior only to those who accept His redemption by faith.

This should be the substance of all the churches’ preaching and teaching.

Matthew 1:21 (KJV)
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Matthew 1:21 (RVR)

The word Save is used 94 times in the N.T. of salvation from sin. Sin means missing the mark, always in a moral sense. Christ came to show us how to live right.

John 1:29 (KJV)
29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

John 1:29 (RVR)

Taketh away, to bear in the sense of removing sin, doing away with the guilt and punishment.

John 3:16 (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16 (RVR)

Jesus is, was, and always will be “the only begotten Son” of God. [John 1:14]

Galatians 1:4 (KJV)
4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

Galatians 1:4 (RVR)

One other verse says, “He came to seek and to save that which is lost.” God is looking for us to repent of our sins, call on Him for salvation and live for Him. He has made the way by sending Jesus. Why would we carry the same message to the world that the apostle Paul did? He said that he “preached Christ and Him crucified”.

It is such a simple message. We should accept it and carry it to the world. An old bumper sticker said, “God said it, I believe it, and that settles it.” I say, “God said it, and that settles it whether you believe it or not!”

I pray that the coming year will be a great year of reaching others with the message of God’s plan of Salvation. You don’t have to preach, or teach but you can give out tracts. You can support the ministry financially. God has a work for you to do. Finally;

Matthew 28:19 (KJV)
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Matthew 28:19 (RVR)
19 Por tanto, id, y haced discípulos a todas las naciones, bautizándolos en el nombre del Padre, y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo;

God Bless you and fill you with the knowledge of His will. We love you.
