Wiping Out Worry

1. Why We Shouldn’t Worry

Matthew 6:25 (KJV)
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Matthew 6:25 (RVR)

Eight Reasons Why We Should Not Worry:

1. Life is more than food (Mt. 6:25).

2. The body is more than clothing (Mt. 6:25).

3. Human beings are greater than materials (Mt. 6:25).

4. People are more important than birds whom God feeds without their labor (Mt. 6:26).

Matthew 6:26 (NKJV)
26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Matthew 6:26 (RVR)

5. Worry cannot change the body (Mt. 6:27).

Matthew 6:27 (NKJV)
27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

Matthew 6:27 (RVR)

6. People are better than plants that do not worry about clothing (Mt. 6:28-30).

Matthew 6:28-30 (NKJV)
28 So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Matthew 6:28-30 (RVR)
28 Y por el vestido, ¿por qué os afanáis? Considerad los lirios del campo, cómo crecen: no trabajan ni hilan;

7. God's providence is over all creation, not just birds and plants that never buy, sell, manufacture, or labor (Mt. 6:26-32).

Matthew 6:31-32 (NKJV)
31 Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

Matthew 6:31-32 (RVR)
31 No os afanéis, pues, diciendo: ¿Qué comeremos, o qué beberemos, o qué vestiremos?

8. Worry is useless and sinful and must not be tolerated (Mt. 6:33-34).

Matthew 6:33-34 (NKJV)
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Matthew 6:33-34 (RVR)

There are at least three other reasons why we shouldn’t worry.

1. Worry causes us to lose perspective.

He exhorts us not to be concerned about worldly things

2. Worry causes us to forget our worth.

Matthew 6:26 (KJV)
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Matthew 6:26 (RVR)

Matthew 10:30 (NKJV)
30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Matthew 10:30 (RVR)
30 Pues aun vuestros cabellos están todos contados.

3. Worry robs us of strength.

Matthew 6:27 (KJV)
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

Matthew 6:27 (RVR)

How To Wipe Out Worry

1. Examine our priorities.

Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:33 (RVR)

Psalms 5:12 (KJV)
12 For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

Psalms 5:12 (RVR)

2. Live in the present.

Exodus 16:20 (KJV)

20 Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.

Exodus 16:20 (RVR)

Deuteronomy 33:25 (KJV)
25 Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be.

Deuteronomy 33:25 (RVR)
25 Hierro y bronce serán tus cerrojos, Y como tus días serán tus fuerzas.

3. Pray about our problems,

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 (RVR)

1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV)
7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

1 Peter 5:7 (RVR)

Have you done that? Be honest Have you really done that? That means All your worry is cast on Jesus. To surrender all means there is nothing left for you to carry around.

Finally: Worry is a sin.

Matthew 13:7 (NKJV)
7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them.

Matthew 13:7 (RVR)

Matthew 13:22 (NKJV)
22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

Matthew 13:22 (RVR)
