The One Way

1. Jesus said there is one way leading unto everlasting life;

Matthew 7:13-14 (NKJV)
¹³ "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
¹⁴ Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

For wide is the gate, and broad is the way; An allusion to the careless sinful way of life of the wicked, intimating that it is easier to be revengeful and covetous, to take advantage of another to enrich self rather than walk according to the golden rule.

Leadeth to destruction; This way of life leads to destruction which does not actually come until the end of the road (Rom. 6:16-23; 8:12-13; Gal. 5:19-21; 6:7-8; Heb. 9:27). The reason is that destruction can be canceled by turning from sin to God (Acts 26:18).

2. Christ said, “I am the Way”;

John 14:6 (NKJV)
⁶ Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

3. Christ said there is one door;

John 10:9 (NKJV)
⁹ I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

4. Christ said there is one Shepherd and one fold; (John 10:16).

¹⁶ And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.

5. Christ built one church;

Matthew 16:18 (NKJV)
¹⁸ And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

6. Christ commissioned the preaching of one Gospel;

¹⁵ And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
¹⁶ He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

7. Paul knew but one Gospel;

Galatians 1:8-9 (NKJV)
⁸ But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
⁹ As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

8. There is one body (Galatians 1: 8, 9).

9. There is one Spirit (Ephesians 4:4; 1 Corinthians 12: 4).

10. There is one hope (Ephesians 4:4).

11. There is one Lord (Ephesians 4:5).

12. There is one Faith (Ephesians 4:5).

13. There is one baptism (Ephesians 4:5).

14. There is one God (Ephesians 4:6).

15. There is one doctrine (Matt. 7:28; John 7: 16, 17; Acts 2: 42; 5:28; Romans 6:17; Eph. 4:14; 1 Timothy 1: 3; 2 Timothy 4: 2, 3).

16. There are many doctrines of men (Matthew 15: 9; Colossians 2: 20-22; Hebrews 13:9).

17. There are many doctrines of devils (1 Timothy 4:1).

18. A preacher must continue in the doctrine of Christ to save himself and those who hear him (1 Tim. 4:16).

19. We are not to receive into our homes or bid God-speed to those who bring doctrine other than that of Christ (2 John 10, 11).
